This year our Festive Season might look a little different with smaller gatherings, and fewer get-togethers, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t go to town and bring some joy and festivity to your table! That’s why I am so excited to introduce my Festive Faves bundle. This collection of digital recipes is a first from Wholesome Child. I hope it inspires you with fresh ideas and more nutritious classics to keep your whole family nourished while still feeling indulged throughout the silly-season.

From Christmas classics like Rocky Road, Trifle and Gingerbread Biscuits (that have been overhauled and given the Wholesome Child tick of approval), through to new recipes such as Chicken Skewers, Gingerbread Gummies, and Granola, we’ve got you covered. And trust me, these recipes can be enjoyed through the festive season and beyond. I have loved trialling, tasting and perfecting them over the past few months with my family!

With the kids on holidays, getting them in the kitchen is a great activity and also sets up a good foundation for healthy eating and a greater appetite for trying new things. Most of these recipes have been designed with little hands in mind, and can be created together as a family, and then enjoyed together too no matter what your cultural traditions!

Here are some fun ideas to make your festive snacks healthier and easier to prepare:

  • Arrange cut up fruit or vegetables in Christmas shapes (for example, create a kiwi fruit xmas tree with berries, or cute reindeer using celery sticks filled w cream cheese or nut butter with eyes, a berry nose and pretzel antlers)
  • Use xmas cookie cutters to cut out cheese, fruit or veggie shapes and use those shapes on crackers, sandwiches, xmas shaped pizzas and more!
  • Make watermelon xmas trees with whipped cream and choc nibs
  • Use Wholesome child healthier xmas recipes for cookies, cakes and snacks
  • When baking cookies with the kids, make holes into the top of the cookie to be able to use them as hangers for the tree.
  • Keep impatient kids busy with simple craft projects or baking projects.
  • When it comes to decorating xmas cookies, fill your melted chocolate into small sauce/squeeze bottles for the kids to use.
  • Make your own wrapping paper with the kids by dipping cookie cutters into paint and print on baking paper or making potato stamps OR using fingerprints for xmas lights on green paper is a personal favourite.
  • Use white muffin liners for making xmas snowflakes.
  • Add cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and allspice to any sweet baked goods to give it a christmassy taste.
  • Thread popcorn on strings using a needle and decorate the tree with it.

Our Festive Faves recipe bundle is available through the Wholesome Child Academy. Simply sign up and purchase your bundle, and as a BONUS you will receive our Shopping course for FREE with extra recipes to add to your repertoire.

Wishing you and your families a safe and happy holiday season, and a healthier, happier 2021!
